Episode 3: Testing the Samples and Perfecting the Design
From Vision to Reality: Testing and Refining the Perfect Sink Caddy
When the samples arrived, it felt like Christmas morning. Each manufacturer had sent their version of the sink caddy, and I was thrilled to finally see my vision coming to life. It was time to test everything—design, functionality, colors, and more.
The samples came in a variety of sizes, colors, and designs. Some had sleek, modern looks, while others featured slatted designs to help with water drainage. A few leaned toward a minimalist style, simple and clean. I placed them all on my kitchen island, allowing myself to see them in action as I went about my day. I’d glance at them while cooking, cleaning, or even just grabbing a glass of water, imagining how they might fit not just in my kitchen but in kitchens of all styles. I also wanted to ensure they aligned with current trends—would they work in homes with modern, minimalist aesthetics? Or homes that leaned toward a warmer, more classic vibe?

Test 1. Size, Design, and Surface : Samples in various sizes, designs, and surfaces being tested for durability, water absorption, and stain resistance.
To evaluate their functionality, I ran a series of water absorption tests. I poured water on each sink caddy to observe how quickly it dried, checking for any water stains or residual marks. Did the material truly absorb and evaporate moisture as promised? How did it hold up over time? I went even further by intentionally creating everyday messes, such as spilled hand soap and household stains like dishwashing liquid or hard water spots. Using a sponge, I scrubbed them to see how easily the stains could be removed. I even pushed the limits of durability by lightly sanding the surfaces with sandpaper to check how well they could withstand wear and tear.

Test 2. Packaging, Non-Slip Base, and Water absorption: Showcasing water absorption, a non-slip base for stability, and thoughtfully designed eco-friendly packaging.
Design, however, was just as important to me as functionality. From the start, I wanted to create something that didn’t just work well but looked beautiful too. The samples came in light gray, dark gray, and white—each versatile and stylish in its own way. For the legs, I had options like silver, black, and my long-awaited gold. I spent days combining different base colors with leg colors, finding the perfect pairings that felt both timeless and trendy.

Test 3. Tray and Leg Color Combinations: Tray colors like white, light gray, and dark gray paired with silver, black, and gold legs to find the ideal combination.
But I didn’t stop at just the kitchen. I placed the caddies in my bathroom to see how they worked as a bathroom accessory. I even used one as a base for a small potted plant, testing its versatility as a decorative item. I wanted to make sure this product was more than just a sink caddy—it needed to add value to any space it was used in.
After weeks of testing and refining, I finally chose a design that balanced functionality and aesthetics perfectly. To make the product even more versatile, I decided to include two sink caddies in each set. This way, it could be used not only in the kitchen but also in the bathroom or anywhere else a little extra organization was needed.
In the next episode, I’ll introduce you to the Instant Dry Sink Caddy, sharing its standout features and why it’s a must-have for your home.
Until next time, wishing you joy and twinkle moments in every corner of your home.
Warmly,
Stella
